Butthole Burn Burrito

Awhile ago American Greetings bought the Butthole Burn concept from me and had me turn it into an e-card. The end result was MUCH different than the original concept, but I'm happy with the way it turned out. Somehow, the whole thing fell through the cracks and never saw the light of day, let alone go live on the AG website.

Are You A Publicist?

Are you a publicist? I think I need one. Or some kind of an agent. Or art dealer. Maybe a pimp.

Slow Death

Too many things going on. I'm learning that I really don't have a mind for business. Or, more likely, I just don't want to deal with the business side of art. I just want to draw funny pictures. I probably ought to take some kind of business class and/or come up with an actual business plan for Savage Monsters. The latest thing I've done is install Google Analytics on all my sites so that I can see that no one visits any of my sites. Next up is getting savagemonsters.mobi functional enough that kids can download content for their cell phones. I'm starting off slow and just optimizing stuff for my phone with a main display screen of 240x320. And I've got iPod content and other phones on the back burner. Plus, all the other projects I've got going. It's really times like these that I'd love to win the lottery so I can hire people to help me get all this stuff done.

Toys!

It's been an insane week. I was supposed to go to the NYC Toy Fair and check it out and hang with a few pals...Aaron and Drew. I ended up sick, canceling my trip and using vacation days being sick. On the rebound, I pinched a nerve in my foot and couldn't walk on it for a few days. It's just been one travesty after another. And now I'm finally getting back to the point where I'm actually working on stuff...like vending machine toys, instead of laying on the sofa dozing in and out of bad tv and bad tv. On the upside, in my sickness, I've lost about 10 pounds. The real challenge is keeping it off, especially since I know I'll be getting a delivery from the Beer Of The Month Club tomorrow.

Old Junk

I'm still unpacking boxes. Finding old sketchbooks, and shaking my head in dismay. My most recent sketchbook find was from college. Completely horrible drawings. Degenerate drawings. And maybe one or two gems in the mix. I found a photocopy of the above ad and coupon in the sketchbook. I think I got paid $15 for it and it ran in the college newspaper. The following week, a scathing letter to the editor was written young female student bashing the ad for embracing gender stereotypes.
